To further facilitate the exchange of personnel between China and foreign countries, China has decided to expand the scope of visa free countries. From November 30, 2024 to December 31, 2025, visa free policies will be implemented for ordinary passport holders from Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan.
In addition, China has decided to simultaneously optimize its entry policy, including exchange visits as a reason for visa free stay and extending the visa free stay period from the current 15 days to 30 days. Starting from November 30, 2024, holders of ordinary passports from 38 visa free countries, including the aforementioned 9 countries, who come to China for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchange visits, or transit for no more than 30 days, are eligible for visa free entry. Individuals who do not meet the visa exemption requirements still need to obtain a Chinese visa before entering the country.
